OV and Golder Ranch Fire Wildfire Safety Community Q&A

ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (March 5, 2025) – The Town of Oro Valley and the Golder Ranch Fire District are joining forces to ensure residents are informed and prepared when it comes to wildfire safety.

As wildfires remain a pressing concern in the western United States, Oro Valley and Golder Ranch are taking proactive steps to address fire prevention and preparedness. Community members are invited to attend the free Wildfire Safety Community Q&A event on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Oro Valley Town Hall Council Chambers.

A video of the meeting can be seen on YouTube at THIS link.

The event features a presentation from GRFD Fire Chief Tom Brandhuber, Wildland Fire Coordinator Captain Colin Port, and Fire Marshal Jennifer Akins. Fire officials will provide essential wildfire safety tips, discuss home protection strategies, and share valuable resources to help residents stay prepared.

“We understand that wildfires are a serious concern for our residents,” said Fire Chief Tom Brandhuber of Golder Ranch Fire District. “By hosting this Q&A, we hope to address any questions, provide useful safety information, and show that the community as a whole is well prepared for wildfires. Our goal is to ensure residents feel confident in the protection of their homes and families.”

Following the presentation, community members had the opportunity to ask questions and speak directly with subject matter experts from both GRFD and the Town. The event highlighted the results of a recent wildfire risk assessment conducted for the Vistoso Trails Nature Preserve and surrounding areas, which determined a low risk for fire spread to structures in Oro Valley
