I am Matt Wood, your newly elected President of the Rancho Vistoso Homeowners Association (VCA) for the 2023-2024 term. Thank you to all the VCA members who voted in last month’s election. (Click Here to view the election results.) I sincerely thank Gayle Lopez and David Light for their many contributions as officers of last year’s board, and welcome two new members to this year’s board, Sonia Suri and Randy Kohout. You have a very energized volunteer Board of Directors focused on delivering value to our beautiful and unique Rancho Vistoso community.
My wife and I moved to Rancho Vistoso in 2014; we split our time between Arizona and Oregon until I retired in 2019. I joined the VCA Finance Committee as an alternate in 2020 and became a Board member in 2021. I served as Treasurer in 2021 and as Vice President last year. We enthusiastically supported Preserve Vistoso and The Conservation Fund and are daily Vistoso Trail Nature Preserve walkers.
Your Board of Directors’ primary objectives is to make cost-effective investments in our aging infrastructure, address safety concerns in the common areas, aggressively manage our budget and expenses, improve our processes, and continue to educate our members on the value the VCA delivers to residents and businesses.
This year’s big investments for VCA include drainage mitigation projects to reduce erosion and improve safety. We will invest in irrigation projects to reduce our annual water usage as part of refurbishing the Rancho Vistoso Blvd Monument and by replacing the irrigation along East Innovation Parkway and West Desert Fairways Drive. Your board will also evaluate a long-term and cost-effective plan for the street lighting along Rancho Vistoso Blvd. The current lighting fixtures are old and are no longer manufactured. These lights are costly to maintain/repair/replace. A pilot project of ten newer lights west of the intersection with Tangerine Blvd will help inform an ultimate decision as we advance.
Now that we have moved into our new offices at 1171 E Rancho Vistoso Blvd Suite #103, the Board will have “hybrid” meetings this year. I encourage everyone to attend these monthly open board meetings at our new office or remotely via Zoom video conference.
Finally, the VCA needs more volunteers to help us on the committees and the governance of the Rancho Vistoso HOA. You can find the Committee and Volunteer Application Form on our website (https://ranchovistosohoa.com/resident-information/forms/) or call our office at (520) 354-2729.
Please work with us to keep the VCA a vibrant and beautiful community !
