TOV Received $685K for Honeybee Wash Bridge repairs

ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (Aug. 1, 2024) – The Town of Oro Valley is pleased to announce the award of $685,000 in Congressionally Directed Spending for repairs to the Honeybee Wash Bridge.

This federal funding, secured through the efforts of Arizona Senators Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema, enables critical repairs for bridges within Oro Valley’s roadway network, with this award focused on Rancho Vistoso Boulevard at Honeybee Wash.

“Funding this bridge repair project is an investment in public safety as well as quality of life, as this roadway serves as the backbone for the northern portion of our community,” said Oro Valley Town Manager Jeff Wilkins. “This particular bridge spans a portion of Honeybee Canyon, a culturally significant area with beautiful hiking trails and ancient petroglyphs. The Town of Oro Valley is grateful for the efforts of Senator Kelly and Sinema’s offices during this lengthy but rewarding process.”

The Honeybee Wash Bridge Deck Repair project aims to address maintenance on the bridge deck, ensuring it remains safe and functional for residents and visitors.

The project is expected to begin Spring 2025 and will be managed in accordance with federal requirements, including a local match of $41,405. The federal funds are being administered through the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) as part of the broader effort to enhance infrastructure across the state.

Project details will be posted on orovalleyaz.gov when the Town receives the project schedule from ADOT.
