Greetings from the Board
This month’s article is written by Dan Sturmon & Susan Wood. Dan is the Vistoso Community Association (VCA) Secretary and Architectural Landscape Review Committee (ALRC) Chair. Susan is Chair of Parks and Landscape Committee which is a subcommittee of the ALRC. They work together with members of their committees to oversee our community’s residential and commercial properties as well as all parks and common areas of the Vistoso Community Association.

Fall has arrived in Rancho Vistoso, bringing cooler temperatures! It is the perfect time of the year for Vistoso Community members to get out and explore all your 10 “soon to be 11” private neighborhood parks. Thirteen total parks are within our boundaries, when you include Honey Bee Canyon and Vistoso Trails Nature Preserve that are managed by the Town of Oro Valley. The Board along with the Parks and Landscape Committee encourage all residents to see what is new in the parks.

Some interesting facts about VCA parks:
1. 6 acres of grass exist in the park areas throughout the community.
2. There is a network of trails connecting our community, such as Phone Line Trail and Wood Shade Trail.
3. Over 5000 trees, along with thousands of shrubs, cacti and native plants, exist in the parks. The parks are maintained by AAA Landscape Service under the direction of the Parks and Landscape Committee and First Service Residential Property Management Staff.

In 2022, the Board of directors, with guidance from the Parks and Landscape committee approved the replacement of damaged park furniture with durable attractive tables, benches, and trash cans. Also, new park Sail Shades that were replaced at Hohokam, Torreno West and Wildlife Ridge parks.

So it’s time to go picnic in the park, shoot some hoops, walk the dog, take a jog or play tennis.

To keep our parks accessible and desirable for all to enjoy, we ask our residents to review and adhere to the posted park rules which you can find them on the VCA website, under Residents Info/Polices and Resolution. You can also find more information about our parks on the website under Community Info/Recreational Park Areas, which lists of all the parks, their amenities and community map.

We have a very unique and ever-changing community. It is run by volunteers from the community who donate their time either as elected Board members or Committee members who are appointed. If you are interested or have questions, please contact First Service Residential staff for information 520-354-2729 or [email protected].

From The Board of Directors, ALRC and Parks &Landscaping committees we hope to see many of you at the “soon to be named” newest community park on E Moore Loop Rd. Saturday November 12th between 9am to11am. Click here to see details about the Grand Opening.

See you at the Park!

General Manager
First Service Residential

In case you missed the October 27, 2022 Board of Directors meeting, below is a “snapshot” of the General Manager’s report to the community. The entire report begins on page nine in the Meeting Resident Info Packet on the VCA website calendar under October 27, 2022.

Rancho Vistoso Blvd Street Lights
• The association has received three proposals for the street lighting Demo Project to install 10 new light fixtures along RVB (starting at Safeway). The board will be reviewing and discussing this topic at the October 27th meeting.
• The board engaged Mountain Power Electric to replace a main breaker to address the outage of streetlights from Quiet Rain Way to Vistoso Highlands. This project is scheduled for Wednesday, October 19 and should be completed within one day.

Park Furniture Replacement
• Park furniture for Big Wash, Sunset Ridge, Wildlife Ridge Parks and Lost Coyote & Woodshade Trails should be delivered by the end of October. Removal of the old and installation of the new furniture and Shade Sails
• The shade sails for Wildlife Ridge and Hohokam Park are scheduled to be installed the week of October 17. Sunset Ridge Park, two out of the three have been installed. At Torreno Park, one of the shades was sent back for resizing.

Onsite Office
• Currently the association is waiting on a start date on the renovations from the landlord.
• Paint and flooring selection have been completed and submitted to the project manager.
• The electric account for the suite has been activated so that IT work can start.
• Comcast will be installing the Business VoiceEdge Service on October 19.
• On November 1, Corporate Technology Solutions (CTS) will be onsite to start the data wiring the suite. This will take approximately 4 days to complete.
• At the October 27 meeting the board will be considering desks and office chairs selections from vendors since at our last location the desks were built ins.

Wildlife Fencing Project – Update from the Town of Oro Valley:
• Project was initiated by residents during the widening of Oracle Rd (SR 77) several years ago. Project is funded by the RTA and administered by TOV.
• Original wildlife fencing was about 10 ft. tall and to run along the west side/back of the homes. meant to keep wildlife from crossing the highway. The intent is for wildlife to cross under the highway via a large culvert between Scenic Overlook Pl and Big Wash Overlook Pl.
• Sellers and Sons, the contractor, reported that the new meters to be installed will need an easement agreement with the association to access in both locations (one for each gate). The TOV is working on the paperwork for the board to review and approve.
• Masonry work has started. The gate company has indicated there may be a delay in getting the steel for the fabrication of the gates. Anticipated completion date for this project is November 28, 2022.

Answers:

1) B is true – There are 13 parks total in the Rancho Vistoso Planned Area Development (PAD). Two are owned and maintained by the Town of Oro Valley (TOV) – Honey Bee Canyon & Vistoso Trails Nature Preserve. There are 11 parks that are owned and maintained by the VCA. The newest park is to be named and dedicated on November 12 @ 10:30 am. See VCA website home page for details.

2) E is false – alcoholic beverages are not allowed in VCA or TOV parks. A-D are rules for VCA parks. TOV has similar, but different rules for their parks.

3) E – All are true. Only VCA members and guests are entitled to use common area amenities. Ramadas can be used on a first-come-first-serve basis, unless they have been reserved. You can reserve a ramada by completing the ramada form and emailing [email protected].

4) E – This is a trick question. All the above are true for the 3 VCA owned and operated parks with restroom facilities (Hohokam, Wildlife Ridge, NEW PARK to be named November 12 @ 10:30AM). See VCA website home page for details on new park dedication. The restrooms in the 2 TOV parks in Rancho Vistoso (Honey Bee Canyon & Vistoso Trails Nature Preserve) are accessible to the public from 6AM-6PM without an access code.

5) B & C are true – The VCA replaced builder grade park furniture with higher quality/longer lasting park furniture in 6 different park areas in 2022. Shade sails were replaced at 4 different VCA parks in 2022. The VCA only owns 2 tennis courts (Hohokam Park) and they were not resurfaced in 2022. The TOV is planning to build a Splash Pad in Naranja Park. Senior Fitness Equipment is available in Hohokam Park, but no funds were needed for maintenance or replacement in 2022.
